“Without the strength to endure the crisis, one will not see the opportunity within. It is within the process of endurance that opportunity reveals itself.”
Chin-Ning Chu
Opportunities come and go, but once they go, they’re gone…  My month has been full of opportunities, I mean Full! New job opportunities, Other financial opportunities, the opportunity for a new car, the opportunity for more students, the opportunity for new friends, and the opportunity of a more flexible schedule, the opportunity to help others... Wow! What a great month right? Well that depends on a few things like my personal outlook, as well as how many of those opportunities I actually took advantage of…
So my first question to myself is “did I have a great month?”  Yeah it was Great! Was the answer to myself, but then I began to think about how others I know may view this month, and it occurred to me that *I* thought this month was great, the month was good to *ME*. Someone else may have a totally different opinion.  Of course we all know that opinions are subjective, but subjective to what?
Most of us spend our entire life comparing days… Today was good because this happened, and that happened, so…. Today was better than yesterday, therefore a good day…. Why do we have to compare the two? Both days will have good and bad things, but we have the power to decide whether or not the good outweighs the bad. Gosh…. I should use this power….  This means that I have complete and total control of how happy my life is and becomes! This is pretty cool…. I can decide to have a good day, or decide that my day is good no matter what. If ten bad things happen….. and not one “good” thing happens…… It can still be a great day as long as I don’t base my day on outside conditions. So… It’s not a good day because this happened, or that happened…. It’s a good day, because it’s a good day, or week or month or year! So let it be a great month for you as well!
Now let’s get back to those opportunities. Wow someone with that many good things happen must be lucky! That’s the way I used to think…. But I have learned that everyone has many great opportunities that present themselves each day to each person. It is up to them to see these great opportunities and act upon them! How many times a day do you hear, “Wow that guy is lucky he has that?”, or “That girl has it all, it must be nice?” I personally think that this kind of thought is very unbeneficial. Life is what we make it! If we spend our lives searching for and acting on opportunities then we will be like those people that we think of as lucky or having it all.
So how do I take advantage of these opportunities? How do I know what to do to make it work? This is totally up to you! If you put the effort into it, then you will reap the benefits. It may not be the benefit that you wanted, but none the less it is there for the reaping. If you go into it expecting a certain result then you may (most likely will) be dissatisfied. Take advantage of the opportunity because it is a good opportunity and reap the benefits because they are beneficial. Don’t compare them to other things, just accept them and keep working towards bettering yourself and others.
So was my month a Great month? Yes it was! I just decided that it was. It was not a great month because of all the opportunities that presented themselves (even though this does help!) but because I decided it was a great month. Did I take advantage of all the opportunities that came my way, nope, but after realizing this, I know that I just have to look harder next time around. I’m expecting get what I should out of this month’s opportunities. What’s that? I don’t know yet, I’ll just keep traveling down the path to see what comes my way, enjoying every minute of it!
